the story of…
The Viola Girls
Violas to me, symbolise eternal faithfulness - the notion that they may not always be visible, but they are there... waiting to germinate, sprout into seedling life, bloom with their happy colourful faces, set seed and sprinkle themselves around ready to do it all over again in the next season.

They are constant, they pop up and surprise me. They give me a pep in my step during the winter months when in the garden, the colour is lacking.
They are just there.
The Viola Girls have moved around the garden with each season, finding new pots and patches of soil to pop up in, making new pollinator friends along the way. They have hung out with bees and butterflies, created homes in terracotta pots, swung from the tomato vines and nestled themselves beneath the dahlias. They have welcomed the appearance of the turkey tail mushrooms to the shade garden, spotted many lawn mushrooms popping up and marvelled at the colours and textures of the lichen forming on the branches.
Having a welcoming committee as colourful as the Viola Girls, is quite a treat.
How lucky are we to have such a plant, such a flower - a little face with personality, each colour variation giving the feeling of a new flowery soul to meet and befriend.
How are we worthy of such a garden gift from Mother Nature?
